MICHAYLA GRBICH
Illustration
Illustration series depicting the act of "rising from the ashes". The phoenix is used as a metaphor for healing and rebirth - in a human context I think that dealing with loss is one of the closest things akin to that feeling. There is the healing on an individual level, and on a shared experience level. The pieces are meant to mirror each other (in terms of space) to use the phoenix as a framing device on the human experiences within them.
This series has also been mocked up in a spread.
