Surly is a Minnesotan craft brewery that embraces quirkiness and overall has a sense of a vibrant community. For this branding project, I was inspired by the ethos of their “Surly Nation” creed in mind - great beer above all else, pushing your limits, looking out for people, taking pride in your roots, and having fun. With the central focus of the statement being on beer it made sense to have all the elements of my piece following it in hierarchy; the “surly nation” (composed of Minnesotan fauna and beer lovers alike) follows the brewer carrying a pint.
Project includes a 11 x 27 illustration, mockups a a mural, mirror, and beer can, and edited illustration for the can.
